The importance of construction

Why all of our jackets are half-canvas

The structure of a jacket defines its comfort, its drape and the way it adapts to your body.

All Louis Purple tailored jackets use a half-canvas construction, made from several canvas layers running from the shoulder through the chest and into the lapel. This structure gives the upper part of the jacket its natural drape and long-lasting stability.

On our half-canvas models, the lapels are stitched through the canvas, rather than relying on a simple insert placed between the outer fabric and a fused layer.

This stitched construction allows the lapel to roll cleanly and follow the line of the chest, echoing the behaviour of a full traditional canvas while keeping production costs affordable.

Combined with the quality of our European fabrics, this approach allows us to offer a level of drape, durability and comfort that is exceptionally competitive, even on our entry-level price points.

A traditional craft

Made with state-of-the-art technology

The workshops that produce our garments are equipped with state-of-the-art machinery designed for contemporary tailoring.

Automated fabric laser cutters in the workshop

Automated fabric laser cutters ensure clean, accurate lines for every garment while intelligent sewing systems support the operators by adjusting stitching parameters in real time according to the fabric’s thickness and mechanical behaviour.

Intelligent sewing machine in production line

Advanced smart presses refine each piece by adapting pressure and temperature to the material, preserving the integrity of the fabrics used, while ensuring consistent shaping and reliable construction.

Throughout production, rigorous quality-control procedures verify alignment, proportions and structural coherence, ensuring that every garment meets the standards required for modern made-to-measure.

Technical expertise

Behind every garment

The fit of a made-to-measure garment depends on more than the measurements taken in-store.

Behind the process, a specialised technical team with longstanding experience in European tailoring defines the balance, proportions and structural rules that guide how each garment should be built.

Their expertise in pattern development and garment architecture has been enriched over time through knowledge passed on by renowned Italian tailoring specialists.

This foundation allows our made-to-measure system to deliver clarity of line, coherent structure and a reliable, reproducible fit for every single customer.
